Why Community?
Community is typically a buzzword used to define a group of people who have common interests, lifestyles, etc. But our desire for community is rooted deeply in the practice of giving our whole selves to one another. We believe that Jesus has called all of us to follow Him in His work and mission. This reality affects every aspect of our lives, and it's best carried out and expressed in community - not in isolation.

Community Practices
The church is meant to be: a community of people, motivated by the gospel, living on mission together to share the love they've been given with each other (inward) and with a lost and broken world (outward).
WALK TOGETHER
We are made for relationship and built for community. Human life is meant to mirror God’s own likeness as a fellowship of unity amidst diversity. Emmaus is about journeying through life together.
FOLLOW JESUS
We are all shaped by a story, the question is which one? The gospel story invites us to be shaped, over a lifetime, first and foremost by the person and presence of Jesus.
TELL THE STORY
We are made witnesses of very good news when we meet Jesus. He sends his people to tell the story in both words and actions, demonstrating and proclaiming the reality of Jesus’ kingdom in the world.

Q: How do I join?

Q: How are communities structured?
Great question! Our communities gather throughout the month & are built on two primary rhythms - community meals + discipleship groups. To find out more, email Geoff Leatherman.
Q: Do I have to join a community in my neighborhood?
No, you do not. However, we would encourage you to start with community group closest to you geographically. Gathering together with people in your area fosters diversity within the group as well as a strong connection to your neighborhood.
Q: I have kids, can I bring them?
Yes - we love kids! We feel that it is important to provide a space where everyone is a part of community, including young disciples of Jesus. Each community looks different though, so some communities have more kids and some have less.
Q: Is it okay to try a few different communities?
Of course. We strive to create an environment where people are free to experience the different expressions of community. We'd encourage you to keep the search short and to invest deeply once you find your community.
Q: I don’t see a group that fits my schedule, what should I do?
Don’t worry! We are always looking to begin new community groups and can provide the latest updates for possible communities as well as other avenues to community that are not yet on the map. Contact Geoff Leatherman for more information on this.
