City Engagement
City Engagement is a practical way for Emmaus to live out our Tell the Story pillar. “At Emmaus Church, the “Tell the Story” pillar is an invitation to step into the beautiful, ongoing story of God’s redeeming work—and to share it with others in a way that feels natural, relational, and rooted in love. “Tell the Story” is simply joining God in helping others see who Jesus is—through your words, your life, and your love. This isn’t about having perfect words or persuasive arguments. It’s about living as a witness—with humility, sincerity, and trust that God is already at work in the lives of those around us.
City Engagement
Emmaus has many tangible and easy ways to engage with the surrounding community,
Safe Families For Children
Safe Families host vulnerable children and create extended family-like support for families in crisis through a community of compassionate volunteers motivated by their faith to keep children safe and ultimately, together with their families. There are several different "levels" of commitment with SFFC. Contact Jen Smith to learn more.
Trusted Partners
We have built relationships with Safe Families for Children, Angela’s House and the Beaverton DHS office.
Our ministry lead, Jen Smith is a great resource for you if you wish to talk to someone from Emmaus more about the partnerships we have.
Angela’s House
Angela’s House will be home to the LifeChange program providing holistic healing through classes and group studies that nurture spiritual, emotional, and physical health. Each woman’s journey is personalized, supporting lasting change through faith, care, and community. It will also offer transitional housing programs of varying lengths. They have great volunteer opportunities for both groups and individuals. Some options are ongoing and others are one time only. To learn more about how you can get involved, contact Jen Smith.
Beaverton Farmers Market
Typically on the second Saturday of the month from 10am-12pm. We show up and play with bubbles and engage with the market goers. It’s a simple, practical way to show the love of Jesus to our community (and it’s fun)!!
